Some positive effects of Ecotourism
Most popular ecotourism destinations are located in developing places where poverty is rampant with little economic opportunity for residents. Under funded governments in those places are able to use profits from travel to pay for many needed things. Ecotourism results in new jobs, and helps the environment by educating the travelers about the need of environment conservation.
Some negative effects of Ecotourism
The popularity of the Galapagos islands as an ecotourism destination has threatened to permanently damage the fragile ecosystem of the islands in past years. The presence of so many people has disrupted several endangered species eating and mating habits. The construction of tourist infrastructure has scarred the natural landscape and polluted the water and air. Too many people have flocked the islands since the early 1990’s.
